I use Penelope B soap every day, but I cannot get over how awesome Bruno smells after a bath with Stank Dog! While he may not be a fan of the actual “bath” part, I love how nice he smells for days afterwards.
Right now he’s refusing to lay with me, since I’m sure I’ve insulted his man(dog?)hood by going, “Who’s a cute soggy pup? YOU’RE a cute soggy pup! Awwww lookit da baby pup! Lookit you, all damp and pathetic! Who’s Momma’s soggy pup?” in the typical babytalk voice.
He’ll get over it.

All of my soaps are handmade. Soap that you buy in the grocery store is usually not real soap.
It's detergent. Cold process soap is made by mixing lye and oils. The lye causes the oils to saponify and the end result is soap. There is no lye left in the finished bar of soap.
Glycerin is a byproduct of this process. Store bought "soap" has had the glycerin removed. Manufacturers remove it because they can sell it and make more money. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning that it attracts moisture.
If you give cold process soaps a try, your skin will thank you. =]
